Offered for your consideration: 1928 Fairbanks-Vega No. 7 Whyte Laydie banjo. Judging by its serial number (77380), it appears to be one of the very last of this model made. It has a figured maple neck (elaborately carved) and a maple rim. Features lovely, intricate inlays on the fretboard and headstock, as well as on the back of the headstock & heel. Whyte Laydie tone ring. The headstock is maple sandwiched between pieces of ebonized pearwood or maple. Grover tuners. Ebony fretboard with elegant inlays, 28 brackets, bone nut, 27" scale, 10-15/16" fyber-skin head.
There is some slight honest wear on the back of the neck, in the area of the first five frets. Fret wear is minimal. The original tailpiece says, Kershner “Unique”. In every other way, this beautiful banjo is in remarkable original condition, and comes with it’s original HSC.
This banjo has recently been professionally set up and plays nicely.
