J.B.Schall banjo from the 1880's.
All original hardware except for two hook nuts. I used two Washburn hook nuts from the same time period.
Tuners have being replaced in many occasion during the last 135 years but fortunately the holes were intact and I was able to install pegs that were originally installed on that period of time. Friction ebony pegs works fine and gives the banjo is true sound.
The Ebony Fingerboard had a few small cracks that I sealed with glue mixed with ebony dust to give it it's smooth original aspect and solidity.
This is a very good sounding banjo, deep and with the real old time voice.
Not a loud but a vibrant and true banjo.
Original frets are in very good condition , action at the last fret is between 3/16 and 1/4 inch with a 1/2 inch bridge.
Considering the long scale 27 3/4'' the action is very easy and the neck profile is very comfortable .
The neck is straight and untwisted.
The tailpiece is probably a reproduction of the original.
This beautiful and high quality banjo is ready to play music again for another century.
Shipped within 3 days and with a four day delivery for around 150$ throughout continental USA and Canada .
