Restored Luscomb late 1880 or early 1890 classic banjo.
New fingerboard and frets.
Original inlaysn were salvaged and re installed.
New goatskin head .
Reinforced neck with a layer of mahogany and a thicker fingerboard
Champion aftermarket removed and replaced by what was originally;ebony pegs. They work very well and hold tuning.
Many hooks and hook nuts were missing and the remaining ones were mismatched. All replaced by 26 identical nickel plated brass hooks and nuts from a vintage banjo and from the same time period. ( S.S Stewart or Buckbee made )
The non original tailpiece was replaced with a S.S. Stewart banjo tailpiece (Late 1880).
Setup with nylgut strings and a 5/8 bridge.
A fine sounding banjo with a unique voice lots of volume and a sweet tone. from 130 years ago.
