Have had this banjo for a few years. But I am more of an open back/4 string banjo player. Every time I get it out to play makes me wonder If I would put the time I could become a good bluegrass banjo player as it sounds very good and it is very easy to play. Great action.
It is a gold plated IBANEZ, very ornamented, real inlays. All original gold plated hardware with the exception of two hooks and nuts (when looking in the inside, with resonator of). Very good sounding banjo. Frets are good with minimum wear, IBANEZ quality tone ring, tuners, kershner style tailpiece.
I have read about this banjo about being one of a kind. I believe is a very similar as in the cover of the '82-83 Ibanez banjos catalogue.
Resonator very figured wood. Inside and out. Binding (I believe maple) has darkened very nicely.
Great gold plated tuners. Armrest is a little tarnished, but I believe with a little TLC, it will be restored to its original shine. Banjo is a little dusty, but not tarnished. At one time it had a 5-string capo, but it was removed before I got it. Small holes remain.
