This 2003 Osborne Chief is a great-sounding, great-looking banjo built by Frank and Ricky Neat in Russell Springs, Kentucky to Sonny Osborne's specifications. This banjo is completely original with the exception of the resonator screws, which are Greg Rich-era Gibson. There is some plating wear on the tailpiece cover and a break in the binding on the fifth-string side of the fingerboard at the thirteenth fret. Based on the manufacture date, the tone should be a Blaylock; it appears to be copper-flashed rather than gold-plated. This banjo shows very light signs of having been played; it features a "speed neck" as is standard for the Chiefs. The case is a recent lightly-used Superior.
