This is a 1957 Gibson RB-250 that started life as an achtop and has been cut for a flathead Sloan tone ring. The banjo, including the case, seems to be all original with the exception of the long L brackets that hold the resonator on and the addition of a second coordinating rod and aftermarket tailpiece.
The sound and play-ability is everything you would want in a professional instrument. The neck has a great profile and looks to have been professionally re-fretted recently. I do know that Robin Smith had his hands on it last and did cut the rim for the Sloan tone ring. We all know the quality of Rob's work. I suspect that he might have done the fret job. Anyway, this is available and comes with a satisfaction guarantee...Bill
