Here is a banjo that I have never had in before. If fact this is the first one that I have seen. I must say that I am impressed.
First the bad: I have never seen a banjo that had as much corrosion on it as this one. Considering that the frets and wood indicated that this banjo was hardly played, how did the metal get this corroded? Anyway, I had to use Semichrome to get at the corrosion and that lightened up a lot of the gold plating. There are still about 5 hooks(I have positioned them under the armrest) that are pretty crusty on the bendover. The 4 L brackets are nickel plated instead of gold.
The good: As I stated, the wood is flawless. There is no wear on any of the frets. It has a full set of Kieth tuners. And, best of all, it has a monster tone, I believe produce by the Sullivan Historic rim and the unplated Blaylock BearTracks tone ring. This is a great banjo to play. It is set-up well with a freshly cleaned and oiled fingerboard. I believe these banjos to be somewhat rare, so if you've ever thought you would like to own one, here is your chance. If you had the metal replated you would basically have a new banjo. I don't know though, I think I'd just play it like it is. Comes with original HSC and a satisfaction guarantee. Congratulations Cliff, for producing one heck of a banjo...Bill
