This is a very good banjo. Sound, condition, and play-ability leave nothing to be desired. Professional instrument in every way.
The pot assembly and neck on this banjo did not come together. The pot assembly is early 1960s Gibson RB 250. The reason that I can say this is that there is no serial number in the rim. 1960 was when they started putting the serial number on the back of the peghead. The neck is pre-1958, which I believe was when Gibson took off the last bow-tie inlay on the 22nd fret. They also started using the wider frets sometime about 1959. They neck is in near mint condition, as is the resonator and pot assembly. This banjo has been fit with a Yates unplated no-hole flathead tone ring, a V33 #071, and man does it produce.
The banjo comes with a vintage Lifton case with a vintage cover. Great package...Bill
