This is a circa 1930 Gibson Florentine Custom Tenor Banjo.. However the original finger board did not have the scenes of Venice. Renee Karnes did a complete restoration on the banjo, and the finger board now has all the proper Venetian scenes. Need I say more. Serial No. 9227 on neck and resonator. All metal parts were re-gold plated. However, the arm rest shows some slight discoloration.
Why custom? Gibson used some "All American" parts for the armrest and tone ring. The other engraved parts are Florentine. Not sure what Gibson pattern was used for the flange.
