Folks, I just reduced this banjo to $2500. It's a lot of banjo for that kind of money.
I don't know why this banjo hasn't sold. It is a great playing and great sounding banjo.
At the new price, it will make someone a good Christmas present.
Working through the banjo collection of the fellow that I am helping sell his banjos, I was pleasantly surprised that he had one of my converted Gibsons. This Style 11 was one that I had done in 2007, and, from the looks of it has had very little playing since then. There is almost no fret wear, but there is a slight blemish in the neck finish, that I have tried to show. Looks like maybe from a stand or something.
This banjo sports a Hopkins Traditional Cut tone ring and a mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard. I have taken the banjo completely apart and re-set it up after cleaning all of the reproduction hardware. The sound is as good as I remembered with an incredible 4th string and that good crack all across the register. The rim and resonator are in great shape. This will make a really fine players banjo for someone who is looking for the 80+ year old Gibson wood that contributes so much to the sound of the banjo. Comes with hardshell case...Bill
