A friend and I teamed up to create a drill jig we call the SpikeTyke. With this brand new device manufactured in Switzerland, precision in drilling holes for 5th string spikes is no longer left to chance. You get a perpendicular hole, the correct position with respect to both the string and the next fret up on the neck, with a distance of 9.5 mm or 3/8" from the fret. The SpikeTyke comes with a set containing the jig, 8 modified 0.85 mm Tyler Mountain spikes, two 0.8 mm drill bits, and instructions.
Please note: This jig is for drilling holes for spikes pointing *inward* and can also be used to drill 0.85 mm holes for 0.9 mm spikes.
