1970's Era Alvarez Silver Princess with tubaphone tone ring and pie plate resonator. The banjo is in excellent condition. The neck is nice and straight with minimal (read hard pressed to find any) fret wear. The metal components are bright and shiny. The head is new. The action is nice and low and it's easy to play. It appears to be all original with the exception of one hook and nut which appear to be replacements. You would only see this if you took the resonator off. The Silver Princess was originally sold as an open back and because of the construction this one could be turned back into an open back by removing a few brackets and the resonator. The pie plate resonator is absolutely beautiful. I bought this banjo recently because I'd always wanted to try a tubaphone five string. I like the sound but I find I'm not playing it nearly as much as my flathead tone ring bluegrass banjo.
The banjo comes with a case that will keep it safe in shipping, but some repair to the case would have to be done to it to make it usable every day. Please check out the photos and by all means shoot me a message if you have any questions.
