This is one of those strange ones from the 70s. I’ve never seen another one for sale. If you look at the album cover for “Don Reno, Founding Father of the Bluegrass Banjo”, he has what appears to be one of these heads on his Stelling. In one of his live recordings at Trinity College he jokes that it is his “personal ashtray.”
This is the type of head that would go well on a banjo such as a Stelling as it tends to mellow the tone quite a bit.
Give it a try, you might like it. For the collector, or somebody who just wants to try something new it can be had for $20.
