Gibson RB-250, dated by Banjo Philes as 1974/75 manufacture. All the RB-250's I've seen from this period have been flatheads. This banjo has a four-hole archtop ring, like the Bow Ties, sitting atop
a multi-ply, brown finished rim, which was what Gibson typically used during this period of production.
The two-legged armrest is engraved with a script Gibson logo, while the original clamshell tailpiece is engraved with a block-style Gibson logo. This is the first time I've seen this logo used on a tailpiece.
The banjo is currently set-up with an older, repro Kershner tailpiece. The original case with the block-style Gibson logo is in solid condition for it's age.
I've rated the condition of the banjo as "Good", because of the removal of a sliding capo. The holes have been filled. Also, the back of the neck has a cosmetically noticeable area
where the banjo has been leaned against a porch rail, or something, on a regular basis. Otherwise, the banjo is structurally solid, plays well and has a strong archtop sound.
