For sale is an 1898 "Fred Martin" Fairbanks No. 5 Electric neck (27'' scale) with an1898/1899 10 5/8'' Electric rim. Both the neck and the rim were found in Boston as separate parts. They are very close in serial number. The banjo plays well and is set up classically. To my knowledge both the neck and the rim are all original- see the pictures for yourself. There is some wear to the pearwood veneer layer on the neck (to be expected given its age). Otherwise the banjo is in very good to excellent condition. Comes with a custom tweed TKL hard case. I'm looking for an outright sale or a trade for a different classic banjo that isn't as bright (this electric isn't too bright when equipped with an ebony topped bridge, but that makes it too mellow for classic style playing).
