The heart of this banjo is a Gibson 3.3 pound Crowe ring. It’s fitted to a First Quality Historic Old Growth rim with a Gibson USA Flange and presto Tailpiece.
The mahogany neck is from First Quality. The Hearts & Flower inlay is in the Granada or Style 4 pattern with no inlay on the 1st or 15th frets. The neck is bound in white black/white again reminiscent of the Granada style. Width at the nut (not including the binding) is 1 ¼”. Waverly 2 band tuners are used on the 1st through 4th strings with a 5 Star for the 5th. The neck is finished in high gloss nitro and there’s absolutely no fret wear.
The mahogany resonator is also bound in white/black/white and finished in high gloss nitro. There is one cosmetic issue that needs to be addressed. In the six o’clock position (opposite the neck cut) and between the two concentric rings there is a slight depression in the outside veneer. My best guess is that there is a slight concave area in the underlying laminations. It measure less than 1/32” deep & 1 ¼” long and doesn’t/won’t show in any of the pictures I took. I showed the banjo to a long term BHO member and he couldn’t find it but I know it’s there.
