The banjo is built around a complete Gibson 49 Classic pot assembly. I believe Gibson used the Kulesh ring in this model. You’ll notice a Kershner tailpiece and compensated bridge in the pictures. The TP and bridge were changed a few weeks ago to see if they made a difference in the tone. They might have but I can’t hear it. So, the banjo is offered with the original Presto or the Kershner, your choice. The First Quality curly maple neck is inlayed with the pattern Earl used for many years and is featured on the cover of the Scruggs book. No inlay on the 1st or 22nd fret and 4 large “flowers” on the 5th fret. The ebony fingerboard is bound in white/black/white. The frets have no wear and the neck is in mint condition. Spikes are installed in the 7th, 9th, & 10th frets. Keith tuners are installed on 2 & 3. The resonator comes from Steve Gill and is finished to match the neck with white/black/white binding. There is no rash or marks of any kind on the resonator. Both pieces are finished in high gloss nitro and buffed to a high luster. The hard shell case is “The Gibson” model and is in excellent condition. The combo lock as yet to be set.
