Folks, I have to tell you that this price barely covers the individual cost of all the components that it took to build this banjo.
This banjo has just come back into the fold. It belongs to one of my clients who I am doing another project for. Don't ask me why he wants another banjo when he has this. This is a great banjo in every way.
The heart of this banjo started life in a 1927 style 1 Gibson. The rim was cut for new 1 piece flange(mid 1930s style) hardware and a Jerry Sloan tone ring. The resonator had a larger than normal neck opening so I completely repaired the opening and had Jimmy Cox reskin the complete resonator with beautiful mahogany. The neck is constructed from old, top growth mahogany, which is a bit lighter than what you mostly see. The fingerboard is Brazilian rosewood with the leaves and bows inlay. The neck has been profiled to the old 1937 RB1 that I had. Nice slight V on the first 5 frets. Sound on this banjo is just what you want in a flathead. Jerry's tone rings are very consistent in that regard.
Anyway, this banjo is $4000 and comes with a hard case and a satisfaction guarantee...Bill
