This is a 1970's vintage Eagle 3R mahogany banjo with a heavy flat head tone ring. I acquired this banjo recently in a playable, but dirty unfinished condition. I took it completely apart, shaved some wood off the neck, cleaned up all the metal parts, added an armrest, new black binding on the resonator, new bone nuts, stained the wooden parts and finished it with with tung oil.

The banjo is loud, very responsive and is ideal for bluegrass picking. Parts to build a bluegrass banjo from Stewart MacDonald today will run you close to $1000.00 and this one is priced much less.
Original parts for the pot include the multiple ply birch rim, heavy (4lbs) bell bronze flat head tone ring, 4 piece resonator flange, 24 L shoes, hooks/nut, tailpiece, 5 star head and tailpiece. 1/2" bridge and medium gauge strings are new. The whole pot assembly minus the resonator weighs 8 lbs. This banjo can also be converted to an open back by removing the resonator and four piece flange.
The one piece mahogany neck has a rosewood fret board and peg head overlay. Mother of pearl position dots. Original 5 star planetary tuners and a geared Waver 5th string peg. Frets are in excellent condition no wear. The neck is straight and has a truss rod. String actions is 2mm above the 12th fret.
There is no case, but the banjo will be packed carefully and shipped insured via UPS ground.
