This is a rare banjo. Don't know for sure how many were made with the 19 hole tone ring but I don't think it was many. I only know of a few folks who own them, Terry Baucom being one of them. You can do a search on the hangout under 19 hole tone ring and it will bring up some information on them. I do believe that this banjo is 100% original right down to the bridge, and it does sound great. The action is a tad on the high side, about 8/64th at the 12th fret, and it did sound better when I put a Wadsworth bridge on it, but I wanted to leave it as original a I could.

That's the good news on this rare banjo. The bad news is that when it was shipped to me in the old Lufton case, it arrived with a small crack at the peghead volute and the heel was cracked. I spent a fair amount of time repairing these in a way that was structurally sound but also so that they would be unnoticeable. I think that I achieved both as can be seen by the pictures.

This is a chance to own a really cool and great sounding piece of Gibson history. One of the very early post-war flatheads, with the rare 19 hole tone ring. Comes with what I think is the original case for $3200...Bill
