Here we have an Ash and Rosewood tubaphone tonering opeback banjo with a slotted headstock and a deep rim to round out the bass end. I built two of these awhile back, sold one and kept one for myself. This is the one I kept, so it has been played in very well. I play a lot and I like to switch banjos quite often. But I have been very happy with it.
It has an 11 inch Ash block rim with a 3.25 depth w/ the tonering. I think this rounds the bass out quite a bit. So it works well with this ring. The laminated neck is Ash and Rosewood. It also also has a rosewood fretboard, headstock overlay, heel and rim cap.
All the nickel hardware has been antiqued for a vintage look. Star and dot inlay and an S-shaped extra wide frailing scoop. The frets are in great shape and the neck is comfortable. It does have a small blemish on the neck by the 5th tuner as you can see in the pics, but its a good solid player.
Finished with Tru-Oil for a fast, no-stick, less toxic finish. I doubt you'll find a cheaper custom tubaphone like this anywhere.
Please feel free to ask any questions you may have and thanks for looking.
Thanks again, JRushing
