This is a very nice and solid Buckbee rim with the original hardware ( tension hoop, shoes, hooks and nuts). The nickel plating show some wear and the brass is visible in some areas. kind of normal for a 120 years old banjo that has been playing. The original neck was a total lost with a broken peg head so I made a new one very close to the original.
10 7/8 inches maple rim in excellent condition. No crack and no deformation. Tone ring is a 3/16 inch brass hoop.
New Calfskin medium thickness head.
Original shoe, hooks, bolts and nuts. New brass washers.
New hand made hard black cherry neck with Ebony fingerboard, nickel/silver frets, mother of pearl inlays and ebony headplate.There is a 2 way truss rod accessible by the neck heel. The neck is attached to the rim with the same technique as the original ( 2 long screws and an ebony shim).
neck scale is 25 1/2 inches, width at nut is 1 5/16 inch and 2 inches at the heel. Action is 2,1 mm at the twelve fret with a 5/8 maple/Ebony heavy gauge bridge.
Gotoh nickel tuning machine.
New handmade Ebony and brass tailpiece.
Weight is 5,2 pounds.
Elixir medium gauge nickel wound strings. banjo can also be strung with nylon or gut strings.
A very easy to play and great Old time sounding banjo ready for another century of playing.
