Recently finished fretless openback. 11 Cherry block rim with simple but effective Rosewood tonering with an Ash rim cap. Classic L-shoe brackets, grooved tension hoop, no-knot tailpiece and Elite Amber head.
The neck is highly figured maple. It is a four piece neck with a Dobson style heel and a slotted headstock. Rosewood fretboard with frailing scoop, inlayed maple star and metal slide plate starting around the 5th fret area.
Finised off with one of my Cherry and Rosewood bridges and a set of classic Nylgut strings and a hard laqour finish.
This banjo turned out really well. It sounds great, very old school round peak sound. The woody tonering, nylgut strings and slotted headstock really give it a classic feel. My first time using nylguts and I really like them. I cant think of anything else you could want in a fretless banjo.
Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions you may have or if you have any ideas for a custom build. As always my banjos are built from found or donated wood, so im able to pass that savings along to you.
Thanks, JRushing
