As I've been accepted as a PhD student this coming year, I'm selectively selling some of my instruments to raise funding for school.

I'm selling my stock and rare 1949 Gibson RB150 5 string, number 4518-6. This is a very early RB150 and shares the same no volute neck as does the early 1940's RB75. Also, the banjo carries very early closed square boxed Kluson tuners. The banjo is in excellent condition with unflared flange, all original hardware (except for 5 string peg which is a vintage Grover replacement) and original rim. The rim and hardware (and possibly the neck), given the vintage of the banjo, are most likely prewar stock. The only two caveats with the banjo: The headstock had been broken off and professionally and expertly repaired (wood actually splinted). It's sturdy and the touch up is excellent. It takes a serious examination to even notice where the break was. Second, the frets need dressed and leveled, as the banjo frets out (only) at the 14th fret. As you can see from the video link, it plays and sounds incredible. Though I would prefer to see this remain as a non-tone ring banjo (as uncut RB150s are incredibly rare), it would also make a fantastic conversion. Comes with a blue lined older Superior case. Bridge is a Sullivan Old Floor bridge.

Best offers are considered, as are potential trades. However, value of trade has to be at $1000 or lower. Especially would consider 20's diamond or hex flange TB2 conversions (no tone ring) or other comparable banjos.
