Cherry openback with poplar laminated neck stripe. Flower inlay on rosewood headstock overlay. Rosewood fretboard with position markers at 5 and 12 fret, also side position markers, planetary tuners and a frailing scoop. This neck has a non-adjustable steel reinforced truss rod.
It has a deep Cherry 10.5 inch block rim, rolled steel tone hoop, and a fiberskyn head. No-knot taipiece, antiqued nickel hardware, cherry bridge and deer antler nut and pip. The neck and rim are joined with a sturdy dowel stick and rosewood tension brace. Neck, rim and bridge wood all from the same boards.
This banjo really sounds awesome. Its the first 10 and a half inch rim ive built. I assumed it would have a softer voice, i was wrong! It has a great old-time sound with plenty of bass and pleasent highs. This was also my first time doing a my own inlay design and im very pleased with the results. What else can i say, it looks and sounds great. It was a smooth build and i really love building these banjos. So far ive been blessed that all my banjos are built with donated or found hardwoods so i can keep the price down. So folks who otherwise couldnt afford an heirloom type instrument possibly can.
