Very nice S.S. Stewart circa 1896 American Princess 5 strings banjo.
10 inches spun over rim serial number 11479 in very good condition, perfectly round , no cracks, with the original finish.
All original hooks, nuts, shoes, bolts and tension hoop all nickle plated brass with some plating ware.
New calfskin head
New custom made Ebony tailpiece with nickle plated brass bolt and nut.
Vintage Grover spring loaded tuners and a vintage 5th string friction tuners.
The hard rock one piece cherry Neck has been refinished with 7 coats of tung oil.
The fretboard has beeen refretted and levelled to eliminate the grooves from intense playing. All the inlays are original and in very good condition. One MOP star added in the back of the headstock to cover a small hole. Marquetry at the end of the fretboard has been repaird.
Neck is straight and solid. 24 inches scale, action is set low for easy playing and is adjustable with the neck adjustment rod.
New Ebony and maple 1/2 inch bridge.
Unbleached bone nut .
Neck can support light steel strings but is actually set up with Nyglut strings.
A very fine banjo plated Second Life banjo No. 1175-4.
