My understanding is that this banjo was a Maybell Recording Songster tenor banjo from the 30s. At some point a 5 string neck was made for it using the original peghead shape and overlay. I believe a flathead style tone ring was added also.
2 Keith tuners installed, all 4 geared "Planet" tuners included. The banjo plays well, but the tuners could use some attention. The resonator is covered in gorgeous "Mother of Toilet Seat"! Head size just under 11".
