For sale here is a 1930 TB 3. The back story on this banjo it was part of an estate collection that I was drafted to help the family get rid of. When found, this banjo was in need of many parts and had to be put back together. It is a standard style 3 in every way, and the "issues" are as follows -
the tension hoop has had the neck notch filed down a bit; this was done no doubt because the hoop would not clear the end of the neck, and a prior owner probably didn't realize the banjo most likely had an incorrect head was on it, and that another head was needed. The armrest appears to be reproduction or newer. The hooks and nuts are newer or reproduction, I had to supply them. As best I can tell everything else is proper and period correct parts. The tenor neck at some point had a cracked heel but has been repaired, very well and hard to see if not pointed out. Reasonable offers will be considered. FON # will be given to interested parties. Regarding the starting price on this banjo - I am aware of a recent TB 3 that sold on an auction site for about 10K, and of course buyers premium and taxes and fees had to be added to that; so the banjo ended up costing whoever bought it 12K plus.
