These are Gibson Firesides smallpipes in cocobolo. They are tuned to modern key of A and are easier to blow and quieter than their Great Highland cousins, making their volume acceptable for indoor playing. Cocobolo drones give a richer sound than plastic alternatives. The synthetic bag and reeds offer care-free maintenance compared to traditional skin and cane.
A soft case is included.
In the photos: The white PVC things are homemade reed protectors that attach easily and firmly. The blue tape with black lines are alignment guides for the on-off valves on the individual drone pipes. The tied-on little cork with its brass tube allows lowering the middle drone pitch by one note. This gives a quick change so that the drones are tonic and dominant in the two most commonly played keys.
