We are proud to be a Pisgah Banjo Dealer
The Pisgah Rambler Special 5-String Banjo pairs traditional old-time warmth with modern lutherie build techniques, offering a rich, soulful voice for clawhammer and frailing players.

What Makes It Unique

12" Copper Spun-Over Rim: Combines a 12-inch body with an antiqued copper skin over a wood core for extended lower-end depth.

Dobson Tone Ring: Adds classic 19th-century resonance, sustain, and vintage chime.

25.5" Short Scale Walnut Neck: Shortened scale length reduces string tension for easier playability and a rounder, darker tone.

Ergonomic Hardware Innovations: Features Pisgah's custom frailing notch in the tension hoop for right-hand clearance, a sculpted thumb rest for neck stability, and a magnetic truss rod cover for tool-free neck adjustments.

Copper Spunover Rim Construction & Tonal Impact A spunover rim is built by taking a thin wooden core rim and tightly wrapping sheet metal—in this case, antiqued copper—over both the interior and exterior faces. Unlike brass, which delivers a sharp, piercing snap, copper adds acoustic warmth. It yields enhanced note separation, punch, and ringing sustain while offering rounder notes. The result is a dark, punchy mid-range tone with complex overtones that easily cut through jams without sounding brash.

Three Key Advantages of Pisgah Banjos

1. Sustainable Appalachian Craftsmanship: Built in Asheville, North Carolina, using 100% native North American hardwoods (like walnut and persimmon) inside a 100% solar-powered workshop, avoiding imported exotic woods.

2. Player-Focused Innovation: Pisgah blends traditional aesthetic design with modern utility—offering built-in frailing scoops, magnetic truss rod access, and stable neck heels that make maintenance and everyday playing seamless.

3. Handcrafted USA Value & Quality: Every instrument delivers boutique-level craftsmanship and components (such as Balsam Banjoworks hardware) at an accessible price point, complete with a padded Pisgah gig bag.
