An exceptional example of one of my favorite banjos of all time. 1968 RB-500 - they only made 25 that year and most I've seen are thin rims or the cherry finish. This one has a thick brown rim with a Cooper Foundry ring (my fave postwar ring) and the sound and playability of this banjo is absolutely first-rate. Original gold Kluson stairstep tuners and geared gold Grover fifth. Pre-EPA Remo head. Has original engraved tailpiece, engraved armrest and 'Custom' truss rod cover (one or another are often missing). The plating is in wonderful condition overall - some wear to the armrests/hooks/tuners - but the original Doehler flange, the ring and tension hoop look great. Comes in its pristine purple lined Lifton (the only one I've ever had) with the original Gibson pamphlet! I cannot believe you could find a nicer one.
