I have spent way too much time debilitating if this is a very rare prewar Presto Tailpiece in original chrome plating. I am currently of the opinion that it is not, as the Vega Whyte Laydie Plectrum banjo it came on had a curious mix of Chrome and Nickel hardware, which leads me to believe some of it was replated. I could well be wrong and this is a great deal. Regardless, this would look and sound great on your style 4, late 60s Bowtie, or other chrome plated instrument.
The only issue I see with this piece is that the back of the face appears to be filed down a little bit near the bend in the tailpiece. This shouldn’t affect the structural integrity, but it’s a curious modification.
Thanks for looking and please reach out with any questions.
