Something of an odd bird in the best way. The rim here is a standard full thickness maple outfitted with a nickel plated Doheller and a small diameter brass hoop. The resonator however, is double bound, has a stunning dark sunburst, and a curly maple veneer on the back. It’s definitely Gibson work of the mid 50s, but this doesn’t confirm to any banjo models offered at the time. This instrument was almost certainly a TB 100, given the specs on the destroyed neck that came attached to it (currently for sale in these classifieds).
All rim hardware pictured is original, though the tailpiece L bracket will need replaced. There is no tailpiece included with this instrument (it came with a snapped “Car Trunk” tailpiece).
A brand new Remo low crown head has been installed. I did not clean it, as many of us old Gibson banjo aficionados prefer our instruments with a little patina.
