Selling a like-new fretless, flat backed bottle gourd 5-string banjo made by Noah Cline. Serial number 179
Ever since Adam Hurt came out with the album Earth Tones of entirely gourd banjo instrumentals, people have been waking up to just how good gourd banjos sound – warm, deep, and mysterious, they're a total opposite of the bright, sometimes shrill and metallic sounding instruments that most people associate with banjos. Adam plays a flat back bottle gourd banjo much like this one, and is very particular in wanting the sound that that combination produces – a clear and direct tone, rather than the boomy muddiness of some of the larger gourds. This is also a very lightweight banjo - easy to take anywhere, no larger than a dulcimer.
I bought this directly from Noah last year, but I'm finding I just have too many banjos right now and this one isn't getting the play it deserves. I think Noah is making some of the best gourd banjos out there; see the video of him playing it below to hear how good it sounds.
Specs:
Small flat-back bottle gourd with book-matched oak back and walnut pin stripe. Goatskin head.
3-piece walnut neck with white oak fingerboard, overlay, and tailpiece. 25 1/2” scale. Slotted peghead with a semi-slotted fifth.

Has no case but will be packed well. I have shipped many instruments over the years with no damage.
