This rim was from a Vega Style M Tubaphone Tenor banjo that had a neck that was damaged enough I elected to remove it. These large rim Tubaphones make superb five string banjos and with some help from your favorite neck maker, this rim will have some more fun in it.
All hardware appears original with some hooks missing a bulk of their nickel plating. The weirdest thing I’ve noticed on this rim is black magic marker dots between each hook on the wood rim’s exterior.
The skin head that came on this banjo is installed, but mostly as a placeholder as there is a section of damage in the head at about the 7 o’clock position.
