This banjo has a 1919 Vega WL Style R rim, converted with a Wyatt Fawley WL #2 reproduction 5-string neck. The rim is 10 ¾ in. dia. as were most of the earlier WLs. It is composed of mostly original parts; bracket band with 28 hooks and nuts. It includes the original “No Knot” tailpiece and Vega stamped arm rest, and a more recent unmarked plastic head. The neck was made by Wyatt Fawley sometime around 2004. It is straight grained maple, with ebony fretboard and peghead overlays with the iconic Griffin MOP inlay and #2 fretboard inlays, bone nut and spikes at 7th and 9th frets, 5-Star tuners with vintage white buttons. The neck is in excellent condition, showing little playing wear, no cracks or dings and minor fret wear. The wooden dowel stick is unmarked and came with the repro neck. The banjo is currently set up with a ¾ in bridge, string height is 3/32 in. at the 12th fret. It plays very well, and sounds as you would expect it to. It comes with a TKL hard case, in good condition. Price reduced to $1,595. includes the original tenor neck and dowel stick with matching serial number. Buyer pays exact shipping costs TBD.
