This one ended up being an extra as I had worked on this gourd a couple years ago but put it aside. It had a hairline crack in the inside wall running at an angle up to the top edge, but I was able to superglue it, and along with the head tension pulling in the direction that would essentially be drawing the crack together anyway, I didn’t see a need to add a splice.
3-piece walnut neck with white oak fingerboard, overlay, and tailpiece. 25 1/2” scale. Slotted peghead with a semi-slotted fifth (tried something different as I had modified the tuner plate previously for a different build, and mounted it to the shoulder in a shallow recess with one screw, allowing for a partial “slot” to be formed — I’ve seen this on older banjos when guitar tuners were added). Small flat-back bottle gourd with book-matched oak back and walnut pin stripe. Goatskin head.
