this early 1980s creation from Ty Piper's workshop in Oklahoma City appears to have been barely played. Given how heavy it is, I can understand not wanting to play a 90 minute set with it hanging off your shoulder.
The block construction rim, neck and resonator are maple and the fretboard is ebony.
The hardware shows minor signs of age, but overall cleaned up nice when I put some semichome on it. This has a two piece flange and a unique tonering that its in a channel inside the rim and is completely solid. I forgot to weigh it while it was out of the banjo, but its the heaviest tonering I've ever handled.
The truss rod cover is missing, as is one of the resonator thumb screws.
If anyone has further information about this banjo, I'd very much welcome the input.
Ships in an eighties era hard case that is probably not original. Thanks for looking and feel free to reach out with any questions.
