If you are looking for a lightweight and versatile banjo, this may fit the bill. Despite sounding quite good, this Ome XX appears to have spent most of its 49 years as a banjo inside its original hardshell case and it deserves to have a shot at being played some more.
The neck and resonator are mahogany, and the fretboard is rosewood. The thin rim appears to be made of maple plys. Hardware is nickel plated and shows mild signs of its age. One planetary tuner is a mismatched replacement but I opted to leave it be.
The tone ring is of the Bacon and Day Silver Bell style. When I took the banjo apart to clean it and install a new Remo frosted plastic head, there was a metal hoop inside the tone ring kind of awkwardly jammed in there. It wouldn't fit back in neatly upon reassembly, so I opted to leave it out of the banjo. It will be included with the sale.
This banjo has a pleasant sound that works quite well for both clawhammer and three finger. The tone is warm without being muddy. Plus it weighs much less than a Mastertone style build.
Ships at cost in the original hardshell case. Please reach out with any questions, and thank you for looking.
