The Yates Style 4 currently lists new for $5,950. This banjo could pass for new and is easily should be considered mint. The wood and metal are "reliced" to give them a vintage appearance. I can find no noticeable blemishes in the wood finish. The frets appear almost un-played. I've included a picture of the fingerboard area that usually exhibits the most wear.
Yates has developed a prewar formula for the 20-hole rings used in his Vintage Series of banjos and the wood components are thermally aged. I've heard and played a lot of banjos in the last 50 plus years. Yates has come amazingly close to the prewar Gibson banjos that command 100K and more.
This banjo has the bottom end, top end and everything in between with volume to spare.
