I bought this Wildwood Troubadour with bird inlays a few years ago from a picker who had it built custom for him by Mark Platin in 2010. He said that Mark “hand-picked the bluest abalone that he could find for the birds.”
It is a beautiful near mint banjo and it sounds as good as it looks. Dark curly maple neck and rim, ebony fingerboard and peg head, ivoroid binding and wood purfling on neck and block maple rim. Tubaphone style tone ring with bracket band, a fiberskyn head, and the original hardshell case.
Mark Platin has retired, and these outstanding banjos , unfortunately, are no longer being made.
It is in extra fine/near mint condition. Wildwood banjos were great "legacy"instruments and the tubaphone tone ring sounds wonderful for both clawhammer and up-picking styles. Buyer pays shipping and paypal fee.
