Hi Folks'
Well my banjo is finally back with me, the work that Pete carried out is to a fantastic standard. And I am absolutely thrilled with it once again!I was so pleased to get it back it was like being reunited with an old friend.
Pete had set up my banjo to how he would like it moving the tailpiece right down close to the head, which i changed back to my preference almost immediately as it sounded to me like it was 'choking' the tone of the instrument, Also he had tightened the head up far more than i would have done (I thought I played with a tight head, but this is far tighter than I would ever have dared to go) this seems to give a more percusive sound (more attack' less sustain whilst picking near the bridge) which I am quite enjoying at the moment, although if it doesnt loosen off on its own after a while, i may adjust this too because while it has gained in attack; it seems to have lost a little volume, so maybe some fine tweaking will come into play to find a happy medium.
