Well, the Crimson Tide did not prevail Saturday for the SEC championship game. Florida won, 31-20, with Alabama posting its first loss of the season.
But I remain proud of this Alabama team, which was picked to come in third place in the western division behind LSU and Auburn and has been in the wilderness so to speak for the past decade. But that changed with the hiring of Nick Saban, as this was his second season on the job.
Saturday's game was a slugfest until the fourth quarter, with either team capable of winning. But Florida is so fast, so talented, and Tim Tebo is a phenonmenal football player and team leader.
I congratulate Florida for a game well played and well won. But I also tip my hat to the boys from Tuscaloosa, who were on nobody's radar screen do anything special this year, and who proved to themselves and to the world that Bama is indeed back.

Dean, I'm afraid that the Alabama pass defense failed today; that coupled with some Tebow running did us in. 12-0 regular season is not a slight achievement and beating Auburn was certainly a highlight. I wonder if Auburn had won that game, would Tubs still be onboard. Anyway, I hope Florida goes all the way.

Nick Saban got Alabama turned around a lot quicker than anyone thought, the Tide had a great year and they should be even better next year. If he hangs around long enough, he should bring some championships to Alabama. I am a Tennessee fan so it is hard for me to say all these good things about Alabama, but I'll congratulate you none the less. Looking like Florida and Oklahama in the national championship game, I also hope the Gators win, they don't play defense in the Big 12 so Florida should put up plenty of points.

Thanks, bigfeller. I know it's kinda hard to compliment another program, so I appreciate your remarks. Saben did turn around the Alabama a lot faster than anyone would have expected. I hope the Vols' new coach, Lane Tiffin, is able to get your program back on the right track. The SEC has dominated national championships in the past five years, so I would not doubt that Florida will beat Oklahoma for a national championship. Give me a couple weeks, take the sting out, and I'll be able to root for Florida. LOL. Best of luck to you.

It's my fault. When I posted my support for Alabama on your previous blog entry, I didn't know that the luck I normally inflict on the Detroit Lions each Sunday would find its way that far south. Sorry Man. I won't do it again.
Tough loss. I'm sure they'll be great next year.
