When Alabama and Florida meet today (Saturday) in Atlanta to determine the SEC champion, they will bring two distinctly different offenses to the field. The top-ranked Tide is all about smashmouth football, while Florida is all about Flash 'N' Dash speed and a Heismann-caliber quarterback named Tebow.
Two very different philosophies, two very strong teams. Florida is so fast, so talented, so darn scary. Alabama, which is my team, has been blue-collar in its approach -- pounding opponents into submission in a very workmanlike fashion.
"We don't do anything intricate. We don't try to trick anybody. We just run right at them," said junior running back Glen Coffee.
Most prognosticators favor Florida (Vegas betting line has the Gators as a 10-point favorite), which is fine by me and probably a motivating factor for Nick Saben and his Alabama team.
We shall soon see. This Alabama boy, now living in the Great White North (snow is expected in Fort Wayne at gametime), will be parked in front of the big screen TV on Saturday afternoon, with junk food, beer, and rooting (and shouting) for the Crimson Tide.
Come Saturday, the banjos will have to wait. Roll Tide.

Good luck, Dean. I watched Florida kick a field goal against Miami as time expired in the fourth quarter this year, even though they were leading by 20. Cheap shot. Go Bama!
