do the right thing

Posted by robin jones on Wednesday, November 19, 2008

My friend Wes has written an important post pertaining to the stealing, yes stealing, of artist's intellectual property. I'd just like to add that if you don't pay for the art you enjoy the day will come, and sooner than later, when that artist can no longer make a living with the gifts that God gave him. Pay for your music. Pay for your movies. And yes, pay for your proprietary software. It's the right thing to do.

That's why I stick to downloading folk stuff and things people put up for free.  It's cheap for when you're out of cash and there are a lot of good musicians out there recording stuff for the sheer joy of it.  All I'm saying is there is plenty of legally free stuff out there that you don't have to swipe music people want to sell.  I've got disks full of free stuff that's pretty wonderful.  I agree Robin.  Cheapskates have no excuse but laziness for stealing someone's copyrighted stuff.
