The spring festival season is coming and many folks have asked me, "Are you going to give more get-warmed-up workshops?" Well, here's workshops in old time banjo, mountain dulcimer, plus a new hammered dulcimer workshop with our friend, Ellen Sheppard.
Get your fingers moving before you head out to those spring camps and festivals. Join us for the workshops and stay on for the Cracker Coffeehouse Saturday evening. Don´t miss out on all the fun-sign up soon!

Price $20 per workshop
Old Time Banjo 101/Mary Z. Cox
Here´s a two hour "hands on" workshop on the old time banjo. If you have a functional five string banjo and want to get started on a frailing motion with your right hand and begin a simple old time tune with your left-this is the workshop for you. If you are a beginner, but still need help with the basics-this is for you too. This class may be taken many times, so don´t hesitate to sign up even if you came last fall. Please come with your banjo tuned in open G. (gDGBD) and ready to have some fun. Limited to 12 students. $20 /10:00 AM-12:00 noon

It´s Raining Cats, Dogs, & Dulcimers! /Mary Z. Cox (Mountain Dulcimer workshop for advanced beginners and beyond)
Come tuned in DAD and learn string band fiddle tunes, "Old Gray Cat," and "Little Black Dog Gone Trottin´ Down the Road." This workshop is easy enough for advanced beginners, but we can add enough garnish to make it fun for players of all levels. Limited to 12 students. $20 (1:30PM-3:30PM)

Hammered Dulcimer Workshop/Ellen Sheppard
Advanced Beginner:( Each participant must know how to tune the hammered dulcimer and must have the hammered dulcimer tuned to 440 pitch prior to entering the workshop). Learn to play a waltz or two or three, a jig, a reel, or even a simple hymn. Learn basic chord patterns and how to "play along" with other instruments. Mainly learn to have fun playing the hammered dulcimer. I will be working with a two-bridge hammered dulcimer (treble bridge and bass bridge) of three octaves (D to D), or three and a half octaves (D to G). Limited to 8 students. $20 (1:30PM-3:30 PM)
Please contact Kelli Pipkins at the park for more information and class registrations.
