The Fork In The Road

Posted by blamethebanjo on Saturday, November 1, 2008

Many days and miles have passed and still I journey on. So many turns I could have taken if I had not been afraid of stepping out of the safer path. Not knowing anything about those unchosen travels, were they really the dangerous route or is it the way of my choosing that was the harder in the long run?

What was down the other road? This haunting question lingers for I have nothing to compare the present to. No doubt there would have been good and bad much the same as here. Different people might have interacted with me and changed the fabric that makes up this tapestry.

There are aspects of this life that make this choice the only one that was right for me. I understand that any other direction would not have been of my choosing but some other persons idea of what I needed. Thankfully I followed my heart and it has never let me down. It has been the compass pointing me in the direction  that I need go. Not always where I thought I should go. And those other times when I had no clue it was my heart that led me.

When the road becomes difficult I remind myself that out of freedom I took this way. The rewards have been wonderful and the sorrow hard to take at times. Take it I did and my tears like water to cement made the foundation strong and unwavering so that I might continue.

However many miles are left in this book is unknown yes, but when it is fully written I will know that it was I who wrote every verse. Chose every path and most importantly did not have to walk alone.

I am there now.  I am choosing a new career and am unsure which one to go for, but eitherway it will be forwards.  I have been still too long.

God bless you in which ever path you take. I know you will do well. Good people always do.

Darrell, in reading your message, I'm reminded of the passage:

"The way that you wander
 is the way that you choose;
 The day that you tarry
 is the day that you lose;
 Sunshine or Thunder
 A Man will always wonder
 Where the fair wind blows."

Either direction, enjoy the journey to the fullest. And to my friend Kester too.
