I recieved an unexpected but wonderful gift allowing me to buy a banjo I have been longing for for quite some time. This wasn't a necessity by any means but it a positive lift that was sorely needed. Sometimes I believe that in itself can be necessary when you think about it.
These kinds of gifts keep giving long after the original owner has played his last tune. My hope is that some day another player will be as happy as I am to hold these instruments and express their feelings as only they have allowed me to do.
There is something about a new instrument that inspires me to play and try to improve. These instruments give me a sense of striving toward something to be had in the future. Building on something for another day. Thankfully great expertise is not required to feel the thrill that comes from hearing that banjo ring out from your touch. It is something I can recommend to anyone without hesitation.
A fellow Hangout member and dear friend, Shorty recently sent me several unexpected gifts that had the same effect. The fact that this man cared enough to take his time and money to reach out and say, someone cares and is thinking of you. Many of the members here through the years have reached out in every way to do that and I am blessed beyond words to know you all.
The fact is that no matter how bleak your situation can seem there is so much more good around us to concentrate on it is humbling. I feel sure that if a person has felt love in their life it is a life fulfilled. There isn't anything more valuable. I have been blessed and know that the love comes back to you from me.

Darrell,
Couldn't have said it better. I too was the recepient of a wonderful banjo gift from a HO member. It was a very humbling experience to realize that someone I barely knew would go to such lengths. Consdiering what I started with it was very uplifting to finally play a tune and say, Hey that actually sounds like a banjo. I wish you many years of playing that new jo.

Hi Darrell - I couldn't agree with you more. You're a gift in itself when you write in here. Love reading what you have to say. God bless and keep safe. Bryan
