Hard to believe how time flies. Life (at least mine) is a lot like a roller coaster. There are periods when you can just cruise along fairly relaxed and enjoying the ride and the view, then suddenly you go over a hump and a white-knuckle ride begins. That's kind of what happened to me long about the end of 2007. At least I seem to have lived long enough, and learned enough from it, to recognize what was happening, and so I could approach things with less panic - more like "Oh no, not again. Well, here we go, hang on!" It's kind of been a matter of hanging on ever since.
Not everything is bad by any means. One thing that happened was that the main company I work for expanded from Europe into the US, and probably not at the best possible time. The company is still basically a start-up, and I do the jobs of at least 3 people. Given the general state of things these days, I'm just thankful to have a job at all, and especially one in my field. I know of too many people my age, and these days even younger, who can't get work at all, much less in their field. But it's tough. It's pretty stressful, and doesn't leave a lot of time for other things.
What time there is I spend with family, our house which is in the last stages of completion (pix some day!), and a bit of picking if at all possible. I've recently met 2 very decent Russian Bluegrass pickers (they found me here - way to go, BHO!!) and I've been trying to fit in some jam time - it's been a jammin' famine for sooooo long! If you have a fast connection, check out a short (real short) video on my site at http://robertp.thirdline.com/vids/bluegrass_spb.html
One of the thing that's kind of had to fall by the wayside was the BHO. I try to look in once a week or so, but didn't even manage that for 4 or 5 months. I've had a bit of calm (eye-of-the-hurricane!) the last couple of weeks, and so have managed a music upload and a few posts, and while waiting for a big download, I'm writing a blog post. Don't know how long it's likely to be to the next one. I definitely wish I could spend more time here. I'm sure the roller coaster will go around again, and the day will come when I'll be able to. I'm definitely looking forward to that day, but I'm not holding my breath yet!

Good to hear from you again! Hey- you have to feed the family and take care of biz. I hope you can cut some time loose now and then to give us a report of Russian banjo playing, and I hope you can make some playing time for yourself, but it's good you have your priorities straight.

Thanks, Mike. Nice to hear from you, and see that you still have that very cool avatar. Yeah, I guess I'm doing better about priorities - something that's always been a struggle to balance. Nice if I could have been better about that 20-25 years ago - well, hindsight is always 20/20 isn't it? Like you said aptly in your latest blog post comment, if you stay vertical and keep suckin' wind long enough a few things sink in. Well, back to website hacking.
