Too many drones - Too many strings

Posted by haiku on Wednesday, June 18, 2008

Ok, I like drones. A lot.
Maybe too much.

So I play the banjo.
But I tune it an unusual way : aADAD, or aAEAE.

I play a bit of guitar,
But I tune it an even more unusual way: CFCFFC....

And now I play the mountain dulcimer too!
I tune it the "usual way", but there's no chance to find a set of dulcimer strings around here.

'Kay, tomorrow, it's string buying time :-)

I'll have to buy single strings... and that's a lot of different string gauge:

.10 - .12 -. 14 -.16 -.22 -.24 .36 -.44 - .56
for a grand total of 30 strings

Told you: that's too many strings :-)

PS - Of course, I just gave up hope of finding single loop-end strings, I'll just have to deal with ball-end (even my guitar is supposed to use loop-end strings!!)

Wish me luck - the clercks at the music store will hate me :-)))
